New Picnic Tables for Ruby

We celebrated Memorial Day at Ruby with a party to welcome John and Colleen Kvasnicka, who generously donated some new picnic tables to Ruby Mines, and friends Mel and Nancy who hauled them here from Amado in their big trailer.

John built these beautiful strong picnic tables from recycled wood. The 4 tables seat 2, 4, 6 and 8 people, and we used a small pickup to distribute them to the Courthouse, School campsite, and Ramadas 1 and 2. John also made some small benches, for visitors to use at the Courthouse during caretaker Leslie Case’s check-in introduction to Ruby. He even made a “wishing well” for… whatever you want to wish for!

Leslie serenaded us during our potluck lunch. She has a beautiful singing voice and her ballads, songs and stories inspire or provoke as well as entertain.

It has been about 4 years since David Bygott made two recycled-wood picnic tables and some small benches, and Pat Frederick made four metal tables. All these are still serving Ruby well.
Thanks to all who make such great efforts for Ruby, and contribute something everyone can enjoy.
Thank you again John and Colleen for your generous gift.
